Project Rachel: Post-Abortion Healing Program
About Project Rachel
Founded in 1984, the Project Rachel Post Abortion Ministry has grown throughout the United States and around the world.
This ministry is composed of a network of specially trained clergy, spiritual directors and therapists who provide compassionate one-on-one care to those who are struggling with the aftermath of abortion. Project Rachel is designed to provide confidential and skilled help to each individual who comes to the ministry.
An outreach program, Project Rachel is open to anyone who is struggling after an abortion loss. It is able to help women and men; parents, grandparents, siblings, friends and others whose lives have been impacted by an abortion loss.
How to Begin
Call the Right to Life League of Southern California office to begin your participation in Project Rachel … and begin to heal.
Without a doubt, abortion can be one of the most traumatic experiences a person can have.
Both before and after an abortion, feelings of fear, anxiety, guilt, panic and depression are common—not only for the woman who undergoes the procedure—but also for the father of the unborn child, the grandparents, and close friends.
For many women, the pain of an abortion is intensified by a sense of alienation from God.
Project Rachel has ministers, pastors, counselors, and priests who have received special training to fully understand the complexity of the situation. A counselor will lead you through the steps to healing and peace. Reconciliation through your own faith process can be made available if desired.
Project Rachel is a sensitive, private and confidential experience. It represents a means for you to receive the healing grace of God as well as forgiveness for abortion. It allows you, in a caring and hopeful context, to move toward reconciliation—with yourself, your unborn child, your family, your Church and your God.
Project Rachel is named for the Old Testament figure who wept inconsolably over the loss of her children. Modeled after similar efforts throughout the world, this program is sponsored by the Right to Life League of Southern California.
